Looking for some great book recommendations? Or, maybe you’ve recently read a book that changed the way you think about conservation. In either case, we’ve got something to share with you: America’s WILD READ.
The WILD READ is a virtual book club meant to engage and inspire you to connect with nature. It is a place to share your insights with renowned nature writers and other readers, ultimately helping to inform the process of conserving America’s National Wildlife Refuges for the future. Led by the National Conservation Training Center in partnership with the Refuge System, this online community of readers will be moderated by several brilliant nature writers and renowned conservation authors.
And, we want to hear from you. If you have favorite authors or book suggestions, we hope you’ll share them with us at: AmericasWildlife.org/WildRead
On April 25, the book selection for the virtual club will be announced at the link above.
Beginning June 1, we will begin facilitating the online discussion by exploring deeper themes from selected books and essays. We have an impressive cadre of university scholars, retired Refuge leaders, poets, and environmental authors who will serve as moderators, responding to your thoughts and ideas while stimulating the discussion with thought-provoking questions. The book club is anticipated to culminate with a live video conference with the author of the featured book during the Conserving the Future conference on July 14. Some lucky readers will be selected to attend the meeting with the author in person.
So, join us! Share your ideas and become connected to people and wild places across the nation as we launch the WILD READ.
