Our website has a new look and feel to make it easier to navigate the upcoming Conserving the Future: Wildlife Refuges and the Next Generation conference held from July 11 – 14.
The culmination of a yearlong process to charter a vision for the National Wildlife Refuge System, more than 240 bold ideas and 10,000 comments were collected from AmericasWildlife.org, and will inform the conference draft. Look for the newest draft of the vision document posted on this website later this week. The Fish and Wildlife took your comments seriously and as a result you’ll find a very different document has emerged. Be sure to read it.
Viewers from around the country are invited to watch live, learn, and discuss the Conserving the Future conference as it plays out in real time in Madison, Wisconsin. As a member of the AmericasWildlife.org social network, you will have a digital front row seat to the Conserving the Future: Wildlife Refuges and the Next Generation conference.

Hi Patrick,
Thanks for the update – when will there be information on this site re: which sessions will be “livestreamed” for *virtual attendees*?
Or will video be archived for later viewing, especially those of us on the West Coast?
One of our former assistant managers, Shannon Smith is part of a panel on Wed. 7/13 during the General Session. Needless to say many of us who know Shannon would love to get to watch this panel discussion. Is there any way to find out if this panel will be “livestreamed” or at the very least, archived for later viewing?
Thanks for your help,
Betsy Burch, Pres. Friends of Humboldt Bay NWR
Hi Betsy ~ Shannon is our refuge manager now on Kauai. Fortunately I’ll be attending the conference, but I know that our volunteers, staff and board members would also be interested to know if this panel discussion is ‘livestreamed’. I wonder if there is a listing of all ‘livestreamed’ sessions.
Aloha ~ Jane Hoffman, Executive Director, Kilauea Point Natural History Association
Hi Jane,
Thanks for the note! You are so lucky to have Shannon as your Refuge Manager – and, of course, you are welcome to tell her I said so!
I keep hoping for more info about the livestreamed sessions for those of us who cannot afford to attend.
Enjoy the conference and please say hello to Shannon for me:)
Betsy
Yes Betsy and Jane, Shannon is awesome and you’ll totally be able to watch her live. We’re working now on updating the web page at AmericasWildlife.org/live with information about the live schedule and how you can participate. We hope to have it up the week before the conference.
ALL of the General Sessions in the agenda will be live streamed (in addition to the Lecture Series). You can see the full agenda here at AmericasWildlife.org/conference/agenda.
