A fun and exciting way to engage young conservationists!
Flat Blue wants to thank you!
Much like Flat Stanley – that fanciful, educational character that has traveled the nation and the world – Flat Blue is a fun way to engage with nature.
And thanks to you, Blue got to travel all across the country this summer, and was even a part of the Conserving the Future conference!
The Blue Goose is a decades-old symbol of conservation for the National Wildlife Refuge System, and this past summer AmericasWildlife.org made it possible for you to get to know the unofficial mascot better.
So, thanks again, from all of us at AmericasWildlife.org for sharing your stories and letting your imagination soar!
Check out where Flat Blue went! Click on each picture for details.

Where were this pics taken? Would love to see where Flat Blue has been!
Bumper sticker? Decal? I would like to put a large decal on my motorcycle, since this is my primary transportation. The bike (and I) visits wildlife refuges and state/national parks many times a year. Flat Blue can go with us!
Ann Marie, We will post the locations soon! Desert NWR. Corn Creek. Print off blue, take a picture, and send him in
thanks, Amanda
Ooh, that does sound like a good idea. Maybe we can make that happen.
I’ll keep checking back for updates!
This is Flat Blue by the geocoin Flat Blue. The Flat Blue Geocoin has been traveling around too!
Love this program! Everyone knows flat Stanley… why didn’t I think of this?!?!!
I hope to incorportate this into our refuge and get kids doing this here this summer! Great work!
Flat Blue visited a bird banding station at Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge the past two days. Went to Necedah National Wildlife Refuge and took a trip on the Upper Mississippi River National Wildlife & Fish Refuge. Photos are being sent!
Glad you like the idea. We are working on some draft activities. Hope to get posted next week.
Flat Blue went to Jr. Ranger Day! Pictures to follow!
Here at Kilauea Point National Wildlife Refuge, we still have visitors (including kids, teachers, grandparents and more), that would like to take Flat Blue on adventures and send in photos and stories. Is there any way that you would consider accepting photos on this site throughout the school year? We’ve already distributed almost 1,000 Flat Blue’s, and we would love to continue this successful initiative and encourage people to discover their local refuge or public lands by taking a Flat Blue home with them!
Fine way of describing, and nice paragraph to take information regarding my presentation subject, which
i am going to present in school.
I”m a resident volunteer, currently working at National Bison Range. I’m thinking about an activity to encourage kids and families to visit other refuges. I was thinking Flat Blue would be fun but can’t find that he is still viable. Starting a group of Flat Blue pictures on Flickr would be easy, if you are doing nothing else.
But please advise if there is a place that is still sharing pictures of Flat Blue. And he does need more advertising to get people involved.
Thanks,
