To my knowledge, the Service can’t create a brochure with appropriated funds and then turn around and sell it, or ask for a donation. However, an official Friends organization could create a brochure for us with their funds and sell it in the visitor center as a part of their nature store.There are certainly many factors that go into…[Read more]

Under spokesman training consider the possibility of some Friend in spokesperson training. Friends are spokespeople for the refuge and many friends have a lot of experience in this already.

Communications (Recommendations 14, 15) 1 month, 1 week agoI believe this plan contains pockets of good tips on how to communicate, but , as an overarching strategy for the Refuge System, I think it is too complex and too diffuse to be effective. We need to simplify our message, broaden our audience and clarify what the Refuge System brand is. Details in the attachment.

Do you know if there’s any information out there that demonstrates that virtual geocaching is popular? I geocache on occasion and bypass the virtuals? Joanna, I couldnt agree more with your comments regarding dog walking, picnicking, etc.. We must begin to reach new audiences if we are going to remain relevant, increase public awareness, attendance and finanical resources.
