Michael Gale wrote a new blog post: Who are the Core Teams? 11 months, 1 week ago · View
The Core Teams , as the name suggests, compose the core governance framework of the process behind the Conserving the Future project. Imagine the teams as tributaries to a river system, interlocking with an ebb and movement that, in the end, flow into a singular body of water. Just signed into the site, and just playing around. I’m really glad we have the americaswildlife.org url, and we probably should get .net too immediately and consider getting all the others soon once we confirm that is the name.
You’re right, David. There’s a lot of work we need to do, and I look forward to it!

Hi Michael, I am just now trying this site too, playing with it also and seeing what’s on here. What a wonderful idea : ) Seems like USFWS version of Facebook, and connects everyone interested in wildlife conservation. I gave it the nickname ”Fish Book.” Can we send out another email to Service Folks reminding them it’s up and running, I know as more people sign up, we will all be able to engage on this site and have wonderful conversations that will inform our efforts through the Vision process. Great to see you on here!

You can absolutely promote to people you, particularly within the Service and with partners and Friends. We’ll be doing a more ”public” outreach next week, and a ”hard launch” (with like a news release and what not) later in the spring when we have some cooler features set up.
Can’t wait to meet you in Madison!
Michael

Hi Michael, Thanks for the response. Have you heard of the ”Firesheep” issue? It’s some sort of downloaded software that let’s hackers hack into sites like facebook if a user is using facebook on a shared network or wi-fi. I see users here can log on from facebook, I wonder if Firesheep is a risk for this website and if someone should look into it and/or warn our users, Service folks and the public? I’d hate to see folks who are engaging in good conversations about the future of wildlife conservation interrupted by such hassles! -Kristin

Sure thing man, we’re working to redesign the site to be more clear and self explanatory. Let me know the best way to get in touch with you while you are out of the office.
