Some final thoughts. Also had some the given to Anna that might be repeated.
First off if you wish to increase hunting opportunities you need to have law enforcement. A hunting and fishing policy with no mention of Law enforcement is no policy at all. First off you seem to not recognize that there are many problems that come with hunting. Such…[Read more] -

In thinking further about this, it becomes apparent to me that the only activity where FWS makes an effort to provide and document NWRs activities to promote safety efforts is for hunters,…[Read more]

The writers/editor of this…[Read more]

The draft plan indicates that the largest number of visits are coming for non-consumptive purposes (hiking, nature viewing, photography). I think it is only natural that the discrepancy between usage for non-consumptive reasons and budgeting and planning for consumptive pursuits is addressed. Making refuge hunting and fishing regulations simple and as far as possible consistent with state regs would help to make visitors welcome. A review of refuge hunt/fish brochures by someone unfamiliar with the area might be helpful.

Andrew – I think the published numbers of visits are quite misleading if one doesn’t take into account the number of visits/days of opportunity. Non-consumptive uses are available 365 days/year whereas opportunity for hunting are quite limited. Just my thoughts on the matter…
