Breaking news: Draft vision document is now going to be released later in the month on February. Typical government, I guess. just kidding! :)

Hey Barron, I’m not sure but @noahkahn might now – you can email him at or through the social network.

I’m curious – what’s the context? career ladders? thanks! Michael

In reply to - Barron Crawford posted an update in the group Leadership and Organizational Excellence: Does anyone know how many GS 485 5/7/9 and GS 486 5/7/9 employees are currently working for refuges? How many GS485/486 11/12, GS 13 and GS 14 employees are in the refuge system? Thanks · View

Hello Friends and colleagues – for those of us more new to the concept of ”beyond the boundaries” – where can we go to learn more about what you mean? thanks!

  • Thanks Mark, if you could let us know when the report gets out, that would be great. You could also post a copy in the “Document” area for this group.

Wow, thanks Brian, Joanna, Betsy, Mark, and the list goes on of all the people providing your insights. Right now, there is a team of people working to refine and edit the draft vision document before posting it on this website later this month, and we’ve made them aware of your comments. Thank you again [...]

Lisa, you are the most important person to provide input into websites! It’s all about the users, especially nowadays with the saturated Internet market. I think the challenge with the websites of the National Wildlife Refuge System is an issue of capacity. We know websites need improving, and we are actually adopting a System-wide software [...]

      Michael,
I was told that the Content Management System would take another two years to roll out field stations. Is this accurate?

LOL, from what I hear from our IT guys is it will take at least that long. Who knows, I would like to see that here at BRMBR!

Really excited about the next two weeks: a draft version of the vision document is being finalized for review, we’ll be launching a redesign of the website (along with the document) on January 19 *fingers crossed*, and I turn 30!

@jwkurth is currently editing the draft version of the vision document, and I can’t wait to see his insights and interpretation. Good luck!

Great point Nancy, how does a wilderness review work? Where can folks go to learn more about how to conduct them?

P.S. – I think we’re trying to get folks to react to the document specifically in another topic posted at:

But wherever it makes sense – you can’t go wrong with open web media! It’s whatever the users decide.

From what I’ve heard in my short time in the Refuge System, Don’s skillful authoring was certainly something to behold. :) Thanks for commenting! These are really thoughtful suggestions, and yet there is a challenge we’ve had in this process all along of really determining what level of specificity is appropriate with recommendations in the [...]

I don’t think I have ever seen a forum within government — whether local, state or federal — that is as unfettered as this Conserving the Future web site.  So use this forum – well before a comprehensive vision document is assembled in mid- to late January – to put forward your bold ideas.  We’re [...]
